Hold on a minute, let me get my tissues…
Most of what you'll read today will be about this sale or that. And I’m not going to lie, we’ll probably send you a few sales emails tomorrow morning too, but I wanted to take a minute to write you something different.
In case we haven’t met or you only know me as the Vince and Soph lady, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Angelica and Vince and Soph are my kids. They normally go by Chente and Sophia. I created Vince and Soph Apparel with my sister Rebeca at a time when we were experiencing a huge change in our lives.
You see, for my entire life, we (meaning my entire family, including tios and tias) had all lived in the same town in California. We literally had family day every single Saturday.
Well this March, when I was 38 weeks pregnant with Sophia, my husband took a job in Seattle, Washington, and we had to move. TWO STATES OVER!
No one in our family had ever moved away, the farthest I had gone myself was maybe 60 miles to go to college, but I was home every weekend. So you can imagine, moving away from everyone and everything we considered home was a HUGE deal!
Once we settled in our new home, and everyone had gone back to California, the idea of being alone in a new state set in. We didn’t know anyone, we had to get familiar with our new surroundings, and we had no clue where to find a good taco or a tasty concha…
I know, sad.
This is where the thank you comes in…
I knew I needed a way to get feel connected to home, to my family, to our roots. When we started Vince and Soph Apparel, we began to meet so many amazing people in our community and so many doors and opportunities started to open up.
We have gotten to meet, in real life and virtually, amazing families, artists, creators, and social activists. It has helped us feel closer than ever to our home, our family, and our culture.
Creating Vince and Soph Apparel not only gave us an opportunity to transition into our new community, but an opportunity to connect with ourselves, our family, and what it means to build community in a new place.
So this Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for you. Your support has allowed us to grow as a company, grow as a brand, grow as a community, and grow as a family.
Thank you for always being there to laugh at our silly jokes, enjoy our sweet and fun products, and show us love in every way you can.
Gracias familia. De verdad, de todo Corazon. Thank you.
If you happen to make your way to the shop tomorrow morning, please know that your patronage is going towards real people and that we consider you part of our family.
So anything you need, anything at all, let us know. We’re more than happy to make it happened.
Please enjoy your family, your time off, and all the delicious treats your tias made because they made them with lots of love.
Angelica and Familia
